An inscription on one of the buildings in the watercolour reads 'Angel Vaults'. The Angel Vaults was once one of the town's bustling posthouses with coach services running to various towns. It had a number of meeting rooms and the town's chief citizens would often meet to discuss their business. The vaults were eventually demolished to make way for the New Quay Road improvements.
