Lot Essay

Girgeh was one of the first manufacturing sites of glazed pottery in the ancient world.

Brabazon visited Cairo in 1860 and went on three Nile tours in 1868, 1874 and 1877. He never returned to Egypt after Britain's military intervention in 1882.
