Lot Essay

Brabazon visited India between 1875 and 1876 with his nephew Mr. Harvey T.B. Combe, on the occasion of the Prince of Wales's tour of the Eastern provinces. His experience in India produced a profound change in the direction of his work, and the watercolours he produced exhibit a much looser style than his previous work.

Secundra is now Secunderabad and along with its twin city of Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
