On medicine, Arabic manuscript on brown paper, 159ff. with 35ll. of black naskh on brown paper, chapter headings in red, text outlined with gold, comprising five sections, an introduction with chapter headings, and Parts I, II and V of the work, each section with gold and polychrome illuminted heading, preceded by similar shamsa with title of the chapter, final folio of section II with colophon signed Jamal Muhammad ibn Abu Muhammad, final folio of section V signed by same scribe and dated 14 Dhu'l hijja 992, copious marginal notations, slight worm damage and restorations,in modern brown morocco bindign with gold tooled medallion and spandrels containing red floral arabesques

Lot Essay

On the opening flyleaf is a seal impression of a courtier of the Mughal Emperor, Alamgir. It reads muhammad murid-i 'Alamgir padshah sana 1104, "Muhammad, the devotee of 'Alamgir Padshah, the year 1104" (1692-3 AD).
On folio 5 recto is a shamsa with a dedication to an unnamed nobleman in Ahmadabad.
