The shamsa on the opening folio contains a dedication to a Sultan son of Mehmed. The relevant word is defaced, but presumably reads Bayezid, and refers to Bayezid II, the son of Mehmet the Conqueror of Constantinople, who became Sultan on 4 May 1481. This manuscript would have been written shortly after his accession.
