In the style of Zarin Qalam, Qajar Persia, 2nd half 19th century
Pen and wash on paper, with a single line of large nasta'liq within shaded clouds, the letters filled with finely drawn scenes of animals and birds including a gorilla, a lion, an owl, a turkey and scenes of European or Russian cities including a steam train, flanked by floral sprays highlighted with yellow, a cartouche lower left with a coat of arms, outer crenellated border, very light staining, one small area of restoration
