Lot Essay

Mirza Abu'l-Hasan Khan Sani' al-Mulk Ghaffari, also known as Abu'l-Hasan Khan or Yahya Khan was the youngest of three artistic brothers, children of the great Abu'l Hasan Ghaffari, Sani' al-Mulk, naqqash bashi. These were Asadullah Khan, Saifullah and Yahya himself. He took the title of Abu'l-Hasan III on the death of his father in 1866. The titles Sani' al-Mulk was subsequently conferred on him by Nasir al-Din Shah.
