Comprising a crescent-shaped earring, widening from the loop to a wide base, each face filled with intricated scrolling wire filigree, further enhanced by granulation, very slight denting; and a similar smaller earring, lacking loop; and a similar heart-shaped pendant of thin box construction each face filled with similar wire filigree and granulation within a band of minute roundels, six attachment loops around the sides

Lot Essay

There is a very similar heart-shaped pendant in the Damascus Museum (Seipel. Wilfried: Schätze der Kalifen, Islamische Kunst der Fatimidenzeit, exhibition catalogue, Vienna, 1998, no.78, pp.119-120). With its appendages it shows that it was suspended from a pin in the pointed end of the heart, and with various pendant talismans hanging below.
