The ivory field containing a version from a scene from Persepolis, in a shaded dusty rose border with angular floral sprays, between pale green rosette stripes, slight loss at each end

Lot Essay

The depiction in this rug is originally taken from a French print of an Achaemenid relief. In this interpretation the title of the original print underneath the figure is totally unrecognisable as writing, and unfortunately the main figure ran out of space for his head!
