The very powerful border on this rug is an appearance of a very rare design which first is seen on a Small Pattern Holbein rug in the Textile museum, Washington (Jones, H. McCoy and Yohe, Ralph S.: Turkish Rugs, Washington D.C., 1968, no.2).
