The lemon-yellow field with attenuated ice-blue arabesques enclosing angular flowering vine around a shaded indigo lozenge medallion with pendants containing angular vine around the cusped concentric tomato-red, lemon-yellow, mushroom-pink and indigo floral centrepiece, the large linked ice-blue spandrels with cartouches issuing scrolling arabesques and flowering vine, a part medallion in the centre of each side, in a shaded silver-grey border of meandering attenuated ice-blue arabesques interlaced with delicate flowering tendrils between brick-red flowerhead and serrated leaf and olive-green floral meander stripes, a striped Soumac band at each end, some areas of wear, a very few cobbled repairs, small area of tinting in central medallion

Lot Essay

This remarkably beautiful silk Heriz carpet displays an unusual deftness on the part of the weaver; where an extra detail is required in the rug an extra knot or even pair of knots has been inserted without any distortion of the structure.
