Each of 'Französische' form with gilt scroll handles, finely painted on the front with the view of a house in a landscape, the back with a differing unidentified coat-of-arms reserved against the ground gilt with acanthus, the flaring foot and square base similarly gilt (restored rim chip to one)--12¼in. It is possible that the present of vases were originally commissioned as a wedding present, with the arms and family seat of the bride and groom decorating one of the pair.
