AN EMPIRE ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAHOGANY COFFRE DE VOYAGE
EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Now fitted as a jardinière, with later drop-in square top enclosing a brass liner above a case fitted with a central fall-front mounted with torchères en flambeau and centered by a circular reserve enclosing a dolphin and a putto, the side and back similarly mounted, on turned tapering ormolu legs headed by stiff leaf capitals and joined by an arched pierced stretcher ending in spear's heads, on foliate-cast feet (restorations)--35¼in. (89.5cm.) high, 16½in. (42.5cm.) square
