Lot Essay

On the face of the mat, Kent has inscribed in pencil "Landscape"; and on the back of the mat, "Lithograph--Only one copy printed."

"The only known proof of this print [this present copy] was found in 1973 when the artist's files were being catalogued... This Print was discovered by Sally Kent, the late artist's wife, and John F. H. Gorton, who is director of the Rockwell Kent Legacies. They found it while examining the artist's effects in his studio after his death."--Burne Jones 66.
