Lot Essay

This portrait was painted in New York, circa 1805, and is offered in its original Federal frame. The subject of the portrait is Anna Olcott before her marriage to Isaac Bronson who was a junior surgeon in the Revolutionary War and a banker. Trumbull executed a companion portrait of Isaac Bronson which is recorded in T. Sizer, p. 22, fig. 6.
