The unusual shaped lambrequin carved frieze compares to that on a cabinet-on-stand attributed to the Wakefield firm of Wright and Elwick. The attribution is based on similarities to a group of furniture from the Fitzwilliam family collections at Wentworth Woodhouse, Yorkshire that has now been convincingly attributed to this firm. The cabinet, sold Christie's London, 9 July 1998, lot 15 bears an inscription 'Countess of Warwick 1773' (the year of her husband's death).
