A 19th-Century lacquered-brass reflecting circle,
signed on the six-spoke frame No 66 Gambey à Paris, the 10.5/8in. (27cm.) dia. circle with finely divided scale engraved 0-720, the limb with sockets for four shades, with mirror, adjustable telescope, tangent-screw fine adjustment with clamp, the inner arc with two adjustable cursors to read against the scale, divided 0°-130° and 0°-150°, the supplementary arm with index mirror, folding magnifier, shade and silvered vernier to read against the outer scale, with tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, with mahogany and lacquered-brass handle, four eyepieces, eight shades and other accessories, in the original plush-padded and fitted mahogany case, with two hooks and eyes and lignum-vitae key escutcheon -- 12.3/8in.
