Officers' Field Equipment
A collection of mainly WW1-period field equipment as follows: a Yeomanry officer's Sam Browne belt, with double shoulder-brace and sword-frog, all with white metal fittings, bearing a revolver-holster; an ammunition pouch; a brown leather holster, probably for a signal-pistol; a brown leather scabbard; a Cavalry officer's sword-frog; a small leather binocular case (slightly defective); a large leather binocular-case, probably for a tank-commander's binoculars; a private-purchase aluminium water-bottle with khaki serge cover and brown leather strap with brass dog-lead attachment-clips; a pair of fawn puttees; a canvas-covered map-case; a bull's eye signalling lantern by DB Ltd, with its red and green shutters; a brown leather case for a bull's-eye lantern (of another type) by HILL & SON, 4 HAYMARKET; an artillery observer's wooden fire-control map- board, incorporating compass and protractor, fitted with a roller at each side; a Trench Periscope, by WC POOLE, HANDSWORTH, BIRMINGHAM, consisting of two steel-framed mirrors, in their canvas pouch date-stamped 1916, and a folding shaft, 28in. long, with attachment-points for the mirrors (one carrying-clip defective); and a blackened brass Compass Prismatic MkII (lot)
