The Diamond Field Horse:
Originally known as the Dutoitspan Hussars, the D.F.H. served under Captain (later Sir Charles) Warren in the Ninth Kaffir and the Northern Border Wars wearing corduroy kit. Captain Stewart commanded a 100-strong Contingent in operations against the Sekukuni in 1878. Issued with 305 Medals, 140 of them with the '1878' clasp.
