Lot Essay

Colonel Robert Bleazby was born in August 1843 and gazetted to the Royal West Surrey Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant in February 1861. Advanced to Lieutenant-Colonel in May 1884, he was Second-in-Command of the 2nd Battalion during the Burma operations of 1885-87, and assumed overall command in May 1888. Bleazby was promoted to Colonel on his retirement in May 1890.
