Lot Essay

Private Joseph Tressler was born near Northampton and attested for the 1st Royal Dragoons in London in February 1842, aged 20 years. He was discharged in March 1857, his active service amounting to 10 months in 'Turkey and the Crimea' and, of course, the Charge of the Heavy Brigade at Balaklava.
