Lot Essay

Collar Maker Sergeant John Evens was born in the Parish of Linsted, Kent and attested for the Royal Artillery in August 1855. He subsequently served in the Crimea as a Gunner and Driver, 3rd Battalion, R.A. for a period of nine months, in addition to a five year posting to India. Evens was discharged in March 1876.
