D.C.M. London Gazette 21.10.1918 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When one gun of the Battery was put out of action by a direct hit he had to strip the buffer with only unskilled native labour as assistants, and the whole operation had to be carried out under heavy fire, two of his assistants being wounded. That the gun was brought into action again was entirely due to his courage and energy'.
