M.M. London Gazette 15.6.1943. Recommendation states: 'On 7 April 1943 this Trooper was driving the leading Carrier of a Section on to a position on the left flank of the Infantry who were attacking Point 343. Coming round a spur, the Section suddenly came under very heavy anti-tank fire, three Carriers being immediately knocked out and Trooper Allsop's receiving three direct hits from a 50mm. anti-tank gun. The Commander ordered his crew to dismount and abandon the vehicle, but Trooper Allsop made a quick examination of the vehicle and asked permission to try and salve it. This being granted, he returned to the Carrier, under heavy fire, and by skilful driving, withdrew to cover. His courage and skill was a great inspiration to his comrades.'
