A GREEK BLACK-FIGURE SKYPHOS AND PYXIS
LATE 6TH/EARLY 5TH CENTURY B.C.
The skyphos with black-glazed interior, the exterior with broad reserved band containing on each side a scene of a maenad dancing between two satyrs, reserved line below; the pyxis with wide flat rim and straight sides curving into the flat base, the black-glazed interior with two additional lines in red around tondo and sides, the exterior with reserved band containing lotus bud frieze, reserved line below and reserved flat circular base
8¼ in. (21 cm.) across handles, and 6 in. (15.2 cm.) diam. respectively
