A RARE HELLENISTIC GOLD KID OR LAMB HEADED EARRING ORNAMENT
3RD CENTURY B.C.
Well-detailed with budding ribbed horns, curly forelock and stippled coat, longer hair under the chin and cheeks, terminating in a tongued filigree collar with a gold sphere surmounting a larger tongued collar, an attachment loop under the chin, mounted on a modern gold pin, head ¾ in. (2 cm.) high; a pair of Hellenistic gold lion-headed earrings, each with twisted gold wire hoop, mouth agape, the head emerging from a tongued filigree collar, some dents, late 4th-3rd Century B.C., ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) high max.; two gold disc ornaments, each with central repoussé frontally facing head (Medusa?), with beaded gold wire borders and circle of petals, traces of inlay, two attachment loops on reverse, ½ in. (0.9 cm.) diam. av.; and a Roman gold twisted bracelet, damaged, 2nd-3rd Century A.D. (6)
