The present textile was purchased by John Betjamen at the sale of Kelmscott and was in the collection of his daughter.

Henry Dearle's design for Helena represents his great interest in historic textiles of Persia and Turkey in his finest period as a designer. The design was registered in 1891 and might have been woven at a later date,but before 1940, when all the company's sets of jacquard cards were destroyed.
