A Frstenberg gilt-metal mounted cylindrical needlecase
Circa 1760, the mounts early 19th Century
The case and cover moulded with scrolling foliage and C-scrolls about four gilt-ground cartouches, one side of the case with two duelling officers, the other with an officer drinking a glass of wine from a bottle held by a farm-girl, one side of the cover with two duelling officers, the other with a soldier and two farm-girls, the rounded ends painted with finches perched in shrubs (the case possibly slightly shortened, slight hairline crack to cover adjacent to mount, wear to gilding in places)
5½ in. (14 cm.) long overall
