A GROUP OF EGYPTIAN SCARABS AND SCARABOIDS
Middle Kingdom to Ptolemaic Period, 2040-30 B.C.

Of faience and various materials, several scarabs bear the name Men-kheper-re, others contain mottos framed by interlocking spiral patterns, one depicts the god Ptah in the presence of Sakhmet, the underside of one scaraboid is decorated with paired scorpions, another shows Bes flanked by winged serpents, 1 3/16in. (3cm.) long for the largest (48)
