Details
An early 18th century Swiss tablespoon,
the wavy-end with a shell terminal and formal strapwork form the stem, the bowl with a plain rat-tail, by either Hans-Conrad or Sigmund Fuessli, Zurich, circa 1712* - 19cm long; together with an early 18th century Swiss fiddle pattern tablespoon, initialled "J.H", by Freres Gely, Lausanne, circa 1820, 3oz.
* literature:
Zurcher, Goldschmiede Kunst, p.192 for drawings of both these makers marks. Hans Conrad died in 1713 and Sigmund was master from 1712 and the mark on the spoon is not clearly decipherable as either on or the others, (they are both very similar), hence the dating of circa 1712. (2)
