A JOINED CHESTNUT SLIDE-LID BOX
PENNSYLVANIA, POSSIBLY OLEY VALLEY, BERKS COUNTY, 1800 - 1840

The rectangular form with applied molded and notched surround on three sides enclosing a two-part conforming chamfered lid, each part with applied molded spine and carved grips and opening to reveal a fitted interior with removable dividers, all within a conforming dovetailed case, the front centering a wrought-iron bale and off-centering the incised initials, "J.K. MM"--6¾in. high, 16in. wide, 21½in. deep
