A holy man approaches a prince on horseback,
gouache heightened with gold on paper, the prince, out hunting with falcons, accompanied by five courtiers, is approached by an ascetic who holds out a flaming object to him, verso with lies of black nastaliq calligraphy written vertically and diagonally, illuminated triangular interstices, with signature of 'Ali Mashhadi, mounted and glazed, (probably trimmed, retouching to several areas), Mughal India, early 17th century - 15.5 x 7.3cm.
