Lot Essay

Moyer was born in South Heidelberg Township, Berks County in 1883. He was a brick worker and later a chauffer to an attorney in Reading. In his spare time, he whittled in his basement, carving realistic blue jays, robins, cardinals amoung other birds. He gave carvings to friends and relatives. His carvings first came to market when property of his sister-in-law was sold near Denver, Pennsylvania in 1986.
