Ridley, 1766. 8°, half title (one or two light spots), contemporary red calf, covers with gilt roll-tooled gadrooned border and a thistle extending from each corner, spine with gilt dentilles, lyres and trumpets in compartments, green calf lettering piece (extremities very lightly rubbed, light scuffing), g.e. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed on front endpaper 'The Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of Lincoln from Mr. Burnaby Greene 1773', with a MANUSCRIPT SONNET BY THE AUTHOR on opposite page. DNB, volume I: "Greene's literary attempts, turgid translations from the Greek and Latin poets, and feeble imitations of Gray and Shenstone, brought him little save ridicule".
