The rectangular case surmounted by a bust of Homer and flanked by a figure of a classically draped maiden, holding a scroll in her right hand, the front of the case applied with relief cast trophy mounts enclosing the engine-milled dial with enamelled Roman chapter ring, within a guilloche cast bezel, the rectangular plinth applied with further relief mounts to the frieze of amphoras and floral sprays, on engine-milled bun feet, the twin-train movement with countwheel strike on a bell and silk suspension
