AN EGYPTIAN REVIVAL NECKLACE
French, circa 1900, with ancient elements
The gold necklace composed of coiled and looped links interspersed with circular collars set alternatively with diamonds and turquoise, the necklace fronted by three drop elements with ancient faience scarabs in the center, each with a flanking pair of uraei set with a ruby and a diamond, a palmette below, and cloissone enamel lotus blossoms above, a round turquoise between the blossoms, an emerald set along the support chains to either side, an ancient jasper and carnelian amulet, both in the form of a duck with its head turned back, suspended between the three drop elements, and an ancient miniature faience amulet of a frog suspended on either side, the clasp set with an ancient wadjet eye amulet, the two scarabs Middle Kingdom, the two frogs and one scarab New Kingdom, the two ducks and the wadjet amulets Late Period--15 in.

Eleanor Dravo Stewart, the aunt of the present owner's grandmother, acquired the ancient elements in Egypt and commissioned the setting in France circa 1900.
