AN ASSEMBLED AMERICAN SILVER FOUR-PIECE TEA SET
New York, early 19th Century
Comprising a teapot and sugar bowl, maker's mark 'Gordon' (possibly Alexander or Andrew Gordon,) a cream jug, maker's mark G. Eoff (Garrett Eoff), and a waste bowl, unmarked, the teapot, and cream jug each oblong with shaped corners, the teapot with straight spout and ebony loop handle, and domed cover with pear-form finial, the cream jug of similar form, the sugar basket of boat-shape on pedestal foot, and the waste bowl circular with reeded borders, each piece similarly engraved with upper and lower bands of repeating leaves and an elaborately draped shield centering the initial 'B'.
