A LARGE GERMAN SILVER CENTERPIECE
Circa 1890
The base formed as four scallop shells recessed inside the elaborately- shaped base, chased with C-scrolls and flowerheads and forming four feet, with a handle at either end formed as the full figure of a crouching panther, the central column formed as crouching naked man with a beard, supporting on his shoulders a fluted oval compote with a shaped upper border.
