A GEORGE IV SILVER WINE COOLER
Maker's mark of Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard I, London, 1822
The urn-shaped body with a bulbous lower section chased with panels of fluting and with an applied border of grapevines near the neck, flanked by two ornate acanthus-clad handles, raised on domed pedestal base chased with a band of acanthus; the removable collar with an outer border of egg-and-dart and acanthus. Fully marked on the outside of the mid-section of the wine cooler, and marked with the lion passant and maker's mark only on the collar. Together with a modern replacement cylindrical liner, apparently silver but unmarked
