Another rendering of the subject by Gassel, signed and dated 1548, is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (H.G. Franz, Niederländische Landschaftsmalerei im Zeitalter des Manierismus, 1969, I, fig.F18). The close up view of the figures and the low viewpoint suggest a late date of execution, probably in the 1550's.
