Lot Essay

As pointed out by R. van Eijnden & A. van der Willigen, Geschiedenis der Vaderlandsche Schilderkunst, III, 1820, p.331, the artist was active in Breda. His work must have been highly prized in his own time as a fruit and flower piece was sold at public auction of 1810 for fl.75.
