Turin, fourth quarter 18th century, the ewer with maker's mark AM, the basin with maker's mark I?, both with assayer's mark of Francesco Pagliani
The vase-form ewer with upswept handle, on a square base, the rectangular basin with canted corners, each engraved with a lozenge-of-arms, coronet and jewel garter within a strapwork and foliate cartouche, the ewer marked under and on base and handle, the basin marked under base, on side and rim
The ewer 13½in. (34.3cm.) high, the basin 15¾in. (40cm.) long; 56oz. (1759gr.) (2)

The arms are those of Perrone di San Martino, as borne by Gabriella Luisa (1807-1879), daughter of Carlo Perrone di San Martino of Turin. She married, on May 5, 1828, Carlo Francesco Corsi di Bosnasco (b. 1798), a Senator of the Piedmont and a Member of Parliament of the Kingdom of Italy. He inherited the title in 1840. Then by descent to:
Carlo Giacinto Corsi di Bosnasco (b. 1877) of Turin, grandson of above, who married Maria Adelaide Bertholè Viale (d. 1960) in 1906
Count Carlo Corsi di Bosnasco, grandson and present owner

The maker's mark AM beneath a figure may be that of Antonio Magrino who worked from 1765 to 1795, and whose recorded mark depicts a figure of Saint Bernard between the initials AM.
