Maker's mark of Dougal Ged overstriking that of William Dempster, Edinburgh, 1760; the branches 19th century
Each on shaped octafoil stepped base with band of gadrooning, rising to a columnar stem surmounted by a Corinthian capital, the base engraved with a coat-of-arms, crest and motto, and with inscription Feb.ry 27th. 1761 on third side, each silver-plated branch with four leaf-clad scroll arms (two removable) with campana-form sockets and square nozzles and wax-pans, the central standard surmounted by a similar socket with a removable flame-form finial, the candlesticks marked under bases, the branches apparently unmarked
