Dublin, circa 1752/53, maker's mark TW (Bennett 512)
Tapering cylindrical, on spreading circular foot, the body chased with grapevines and flowers, a sleeping putto and bird, each side centering a rococo cartouche with embossed coat-of-arms and crest, the hinged double domed cover with foliate band, leaf calyx and bud finial, with fluted and leaf-capped scroll spout and harp-shaped wood handle, marked near rim and on cover, engraved under base Quasitam Meritus, also with scratchweight 25=11

Bennett attributes this TW mark to Thomas Williamson but also records that Williamson's widow, Mary, continued the business after his death in 1740. It seems probable, then, that the present coffee pot was made by Mary Williamson, who did not apparently register an independent mark.
