Lot Essay

This is the only known porringer and cover by Dublin silversmith, Abel Ram. In total, Tony Sweeny records ten extant pieces by Ram in Irish Stuart Silver, including communion cups and alms plates, and trefid and Puritan style table spoons. Ram's work appears to date almost exclusively to the 1660s.
