Jean Chrysostome Stumpff, maître in 1766.
Established in rue Saint-Nicolas, where he is recorded to have remained all his life, Jean Stumpff worked particularly in the Louis XV and transitional styles, and is particularly known for his trompe-l'oeil parquetry found on his late Louis XV pieces. However, the quarter-veneered panels found on this commode are also typical of his production.
