a clear and frosted scent bottle and stopper in graduating red to amber hues, moulded in low relief with the shape of a butterfly with outstretched wings, its body modelled as a woman, intaglio moulded to front 'Phalene D'Heraud', moulded marks R.Lalique Paris (small nick to toprim) -- 9.5cm. high

Lot Essay

This model, sometimes called Amberina, is reminiscent in style of Lalique's hybrid human-insect jewels. A similar bottle, of triangular form, was designed circa 1914 by a contemporary of Lalique, Lucien Gaillard.
