Surmounted by a serpentine brèche jaune marble top, the front with a frieze drawer flanked to each corner by a pierced foliate clasp, above a pair of cupboard doors, each with a cartouche centred by ribbon-tied flowers, the interior fitted with two adjustable shelves, the sides each with similar flowers, above a serpentine apron, on cabriole feet, on cast sabots, the carcass stamped LEXCELLENT PARIS

Lot Essay

E.-Guillaume-Edmond Lexcellent (b. 1834) first opened a shop at 46, rue de Charenton in 1867. He relocated at 8, rue Breguet where he worked until 1928. He exhibited des meubles de luxe de divers styles at the 1855, 1867 and 1889 Expositions Universelles where he was awarded a médaille de bronze as well as a médaille d'argent.
