Only Grninger edition of a popular dictionary for monks, one of 23 fifteenth-century editions, containing explanations of words found in the Bible, discussions of orthography and accent, and citations of other religious works. Johannes Reinhardi from Grninger learned printing in Basel before opening his own shop in Strassburg in 1483. His abundant and diverse output, amounting to over 150 editions by the end of the century, was directed largely to the traditional markets of members of the Church and students of law and theology, but also included a number of contemporary works intended for humanist readers and illustrated vernacular texts that would have appealed to the broadest readership.
