Fifth edition. This was one of the most popular works of Gregory the Great, one of the most important medieval popes. The Regula pastoralis provides guidance for those entrusted with the cure of souls, covering the question of how pastors should live and teach in order to do well. The work was read throughout the Middle Ages, and copies were frequently presented to newly elected bishops as one symbol of their responsibilities. Conrad Winters of Homberg worked for Ulrich Zel in Cologne before setting up his own shop ca. 1472. His dated works were printed between 1476 and 1482.
