Chancery 4o (207 x 140 mm). Collation: a-k8 l6 m-n8 o6 (a1 blank, a2r table, a3r text, o6r colophon, o6v blank). 107 leaves (of 108, without the first blank). 27 lines. Types: 2:200G (headings), 1:99G (text). One- to seven-line initial spaces. Rubricated with red Lombard initials, some with reserved ornament, red capital strokes and paragraph signs. Blind bearer type visible at the foot of o6. (Some browning to extreme edges of pages, a few smudges.) 19th-century half sheep, marbled sides (worn, rebacked in modern calf), preserving a number of deckle edges.

The Regula pastoralis provides guidance for those entrusted with the cure of souls, covering the question of how pastors should live and teach in order to do well. The work was read throughout the Middle Ages, and copies were frequently presented to newly elected bishops as one symbol of their responsibilities. Conrad Winters of Homberg worked for Ulrich Zel in Cologne before setting up his own shop ca. 1472. His dated works were printed between 1476 and 1482.
